Catwalk to Pavement: Polka Dot

With the British Summer coming to a very abrupt and dismal end, it's time to ditch the bare legs and crop tops and embrace Autumn 2011.
The obsession with the sophistication of the 1950s sees no signs of slowing down, with shops such as Banana Republic launching a mad men inspired collection with series designer Janie Bryant.
One of the key prints and one that will never age is the Polka Dot.

Seen on numerous catwalks, the polka dot is a key piece for the season and well worth investing in!
Here are a few high street looks that caught my eye...

I am absolutely in LOVE with the River Island and Topshop dresses!
The prom dress oozes flirty glamour and could be worn with flats and opaques for the daytime and peep toes and bouncy curls for the evening.
The shift dress would look great paired with patent loafers and a vintage satchel for daytime geek chic.
A polka dot blouse could be one of the hardest working items you will ever own.  Cute paired with jeans or a fitted pencil skirt, it can be dressed up or down and will never date.
This cute skirt would be perfect in the office or on a summers day with tan sandles and a white vest top.

And the best thing to go with polka dots? A ruby red pout!

So what are you waiting for?  Have you found any polka dot gems?
